The IQAir HealthPro Plus XE is a premium purifier with a reputation built in hospitals and among people with asthma and chemical sensitivities. It stacks three filters, a PreMax pre-filter, a V5-Cell gas and odor filter and a HyperHEPA particle filter, and IQAir rates the HyperHEPA stage for up to four years. Its top fan speed moves about 300 cubic feet per minute, according to one of IQAir's regional spec tables.
The catch is comparison. IQAir says it does not consider CADR a valid way to evaluate purifiers and does not participate in AHAM's rating program, so there is no certified figure to set against cheaper machines. It also costs several times as much as a Honeywell HPA300 or Blueair 211i Max. Buy it for build, gas filtration and filter life; do not buy it expecting more clean air per dollar.
What you get
The HealthPro Plus is a tall, heavy tower (about 35 lb) that draws air in at the base, pushes it up through the three filter stages, and releases it through a round diffuser on top that spreads air in all directions. IQAir describes HyperHEPA as its own filter grade capturing particles down to 0.003 microns; the regional spec tables list it as H12/13. The V5-Cell is a deep sorbent filter for gases and odors, which is what separates the Plus from IQAir's simpler HealthPro models. California's Air Resources Board lists the HealthPro Plus XE as a mechanical air cleaner (certification G-24-068), meaning it filters without an ionizer.
The CADR question
IQAir states that it does not consider CADR a valid methodology and does not participate in the rating program, and no IQAir model was in the AHAM Verifide directory when we searched on November 3, 2026. IQAir's own room coverage, up to 1,125 sq ft, is based on two air changes an hour by IQAir's own derivation.
What IQAir does publish is airflow by fan speed. One regional listing gives six speeds of about 40, 75, 130, 170, 200 and 300 cfm; another gives 50 to 440 cubic meters an hour (about 29 to 259 cfm). Airflow is not the same as CADR, because CADR also counts how much of what passes through is removed; for a sealed HEPA machine the two are close, but not identical. On the more generous figure, 300 cfm at top speed would give about five air changes an hour in a room of roughly 450 sq ft with 8 ft ceilings. That is a living room, not the 1,125 sq ft IQAir quotes. Our CADR guide explains why we prefer certified figures.
Filter life and upkeep
IQAir's US page gives filter lives of 18 months for the PreMax pre-filter, 24 months for the V5-Cell and 48 months for the HyperHEPA, based on 10 hours a day; a regional listing gives 12 to 18, 15 to 21 and 36 to 48 months at 12 hours a day on speed 3. Either way, these are long intervals, and the HyperHEPA stage outlasts almost any filter on the market. The purifier tracks each filter separately and tells you which one is due. IQAir sells each filter on its own site; check current prices there, since the V5-Cell is the one you will buy most often for odor control.
Noise and power
IQAir's US page lists 27 to 59 dB(A) across the six speeds. Power on top speed is about 134 to 135 W in IQAir's regional tables, roughly twice what Coway, Levoit and Winix machines draw at their top speeds, though the lower speeds are far more modest (single-digit to 20 W at speed 1, depending on the table). If you run it on speed 3 or 4 most of the day, as IQAir's filter-life figures assume, power is moderate.
HealthPro Plus vs the alternatives
| Model | Smoke CADR or airflow | Gas filter | Longest filter life |
|---|---|---|---|
| IQAir HealthPro Plus XE | About 300 cfm top airflow (IQAir) | V5-Cell | 48 months (HyperHEPA) |
| Austin Air HealthMate Plus | Not published | Deep carbon blend | 5 years |
| Honeywell HPA300 | 300 cfm | Carbon pre-filter | 12 months |
| Blueair Blue Pure 211i Max | 435 cfm | Carbon layer | 9 to 18 months |
Who should buy the IQAir HealthPro Plus XE
- Buy it if you want a sealed, heavy-duty machine with real gas filtration and the longest HEPA filter life we know of, and the price is not the deciding factor.
- Buy it for chemical sensitivity or odor alongside particles, in a room up to about 450 sq ft.
- Skip it if you want certified airflow per dollar; AHAM-listed machines cost a fraction as much.
- Skip it for a big open plan space; on IQAir's own airflow figures it suits a living room.

Frequently asked questions
What is the CADR of the IQAir HealthPro Plus?
IQAir does not publish one; it says it does not consider CADR a valid methodology and does not participate in the rating program. IQAir publishes airflow instead, up to about 300 cfm at top speed in one regional listing.
How long do IQAir HealthPro Plus filters last?
IQAir's US page gives 18 months for the PreMax pre-filter, 24 months for the V5-Cell gas filter and 48 months for the HyperHEPA, at 10 hours a day.
What size room does the IQAir HealthPro Plus cover?
IQAir says up to 1,125 sq ft at two air changes an hour. On its top airflow of about 300 cfm, five air changes an hour fits a room of roughly 450 sq ft with 8 ft ceilings.
How loud is the IQAir HealthPro Plus?
IQAir's US page lists 27 to 59 dB(A) across its six fan speeds. The low speeds suit a bedroom at night; the top speed is a strong rush of air best used while the room is empty.
Does the IQAir HealthPro Plus produce ozone?
California lists the HealthPro Plus XE as a mechanical air cleaner: it filters with no ionizer, so it is not an ozone source.
Is the IQAir HealthPro Plus worth the money?
For build quality, gas filtration and filter life, it is among the best. For certified clean air per dollar, AHAM-listed purifiers such as the Honeywell HPA300 or Blueair 211i Max deliver more.
