The Blueair Blue Pure 211i Max is the large-room purifier we would buy if efficiency and quiet matter as much as raw airflow. AHAM Verifide rates it at 435 cfm of smoke CADR for a 674 square foot room, close to double the mid-size models from Levoit and Winix, and Blueair rates it at just 46 watts. AHAM's integrated energy factor of 9.0 is among the highest in its directory.
It replaced the Blue Pure 211+, which is no longer sold new on Amazon. The trade-off is Blueair's filtration method: HEPASilent charges particles electrostatically before the filter, so the 211i Max is certified in California as an electronic air cleaner rather than a plain filter machine. If you want a purifier with no charging stage at all, see the Levoit Core 400S-P or, for bigger rooms, the Levoit Core 600S-P.
Blueair 211i Max AHAM figures and room size
The AHAM Verifide directory lists the Blue Pure 211i Max (model 3613111100) at 435 cfm for smoke and 453 for dust, with a PM2.5 CADR of 444 and a suggested room size of 674 sq ft. The pollen field is blank in AHAM's entry. Blueair's own figures match: 674 sq ft cleaned every 12.5 minutes, which is 4.8 air changes an hour.
| Room | Floor area | Air changes an hour |
|---|---|---|
| Living room, 15 x 20 ft | 300 sq ft | 10.9 |
| Open plan, 20 x 25 ft | 500 sq ft | 6.5 |
| AHAM room size | 674 sq ft | 4.8 |
| Large open plan, 30 x 30 ft | 900 sq ft | 3.6 |
Blueair's "up to 3,235 sq ft" is the one air change an hour figure. For smoke days and allergies, plan on 674 sq ft or less, and use the sizing calculator for your own room.
211i Max vs the old Blue Pure 211+
AHAM still lists the older models, which makes the improvement easy to see:
| Model | Smoke CADR | Room size | Annual energy | Integrated energy factor |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Blue Pure 211+ (original) | 348 cfm | 539 sq ft | 350 kWh | 5.8 |
| Blue Pure 211+ Auto | 356 cfm | 552 sq ft | 233 kWh | 8.82 |
| Blue Pure 211i Max | 435 cfm | 674 sq ft | 256 kWh | 9.0 |
So the 211i Max moves about 25% more air than the original 211+ while using less energy. If you own a 211+, check Blueair's compatibility list before reusing its filters; Blueair sells Max filters as a separate range.
HEPASilent and what CARB's listing means
Blueair describes HEPASilent as combining electrostatic and mechanical filtration: particles are given a charge so a less dense filter can catch them, which is how Blueair gets high airflow at low noise and power. Blueair claims 99.97% efficiency down to 0.1 microns; AHAM's CADR, measured on the whole machine, is the independent check, and it is high.
Because of that charging stage, the California Air Resources Board lists the 211i Max as an electronic air cleaner. CARB certification means it met the 0.050 ppm ozone emission limit in testing. Our ozone guide explains what that limit does and does not cover.
Filters and three-year cost
Blueair sells four filters for the 211i Max on its own store: Particle + Carbon at $69.99, which Blueair says lasts up to 9 months depending on use; AllergenBlock at $89.99; SmokeBlock at $84.99; and EcoLast at $99.99, which Blueair ships every 18 months. The washable fabric pre-filter sleeve is $12.99 and comes in colors; vacuum or wash it to keep airflow up.
| Item | Cost |
|---|---|
| Purifier (Blueair list price) | $349.99 |
| Filters, 4 in 36 months | $279.96 |
| Electricity, 3 years | $132 |
| Total | about $762 |
Noise, sensor and app
Blueair lists 23 dB on low and 53 dB on high. Because the CADR is so high, a 300 to 400 sq ft room gets five or more air changes an hour on a middle speed, which is where this machine is at its most livable. Auto Mode uses a particle sensor, and Wi-Fi connects it to the Blueair app for schedules and filter tracking.
Who should buy the Blueair Blue Pure 211i Max
- Buy it for an open plan room or large living room of 400 to 670 sq ft, or a smaller room where you want it quiet on a low setting.
- Buy it if running cost matters: 46 W for 435 cfm is exceptional, and the electricity line above is small.
- Buy it for wildfire smoke days; see our wildfire smoke picks.
- Skip it if you want filtration with no charging stage; choose a Levoit or the Coway 200M.
- Skip it for a small bedroom; the Blue Pure 411i Max is sized for that.

Frequently asked questions
What size room does the Blueair Blue Pure 211i Max cover?

Is the Blueair 211i Max better than the 211+?
On AHAM's figures, yes: 435 cfm smoke CADR against 348 for the original 211+, with less annual energy use (256 vs 350 kWh). The 211+ is no longer sold new on Amazon, and Blueair sells Max filters as a separate range.
How often do you change the Blueair 211i Max filter?

How much power does the Blueair 211i Max use?
Blueair rates it at 46 W. AHAM estimates 256 kWh a year, about $44 at 17.2 cents per kWh, the 2025 US residential average.
