The Coway Airmega 200M is the purifier to pick if you like the Coway Mighty but would rather not run an ionizer. It uses the same body and the same filter set as the AP-1512HH, but its filtration is three stages, pre-filter, deodorization and HEPA, with no bipolar device. Coway rates it for rooms up to 361 square feet, and a year of filters costs $59.79 from Coway's store.

Like the Mighty, it is not listed in the AHAM Verifide directory, and Coway's 200M page does not print a CADR, so you are relying on Coway's room-size claim rather than a certified figure. If certification matters more than the ionizer question, the Levoit Core 400S-P is the AHAM-listed equivalent.

Airmega 200M vs AP-1512HH: what is actually different

Put side by side, the two listings describe the same machine with one stage removed. The AP-1512HH's Amazon listing describes four stages, a washable pre-filter, a deodorization filter, a bipolar device and a HEPA filter. The 200M's describes three: pre-filter, deodorization filter and HEPA. Both list Auto Mode driven by a pollution sensor, Eco Mode that turns the fan off after 30 minutes of clean air, a timer and filter alerts, and both carry a three-year warranty. The 200M offers three manual fan speeds.

How big a room the 200M handles

Coway's 200M page says it maintains clean air in rooms up to 361 sq ft and its listing adds 874 sq ft in 30 minutes or 1,748 sq ft in 60 minutes. Those are the same figures Coway gives the Mighty, where it states them as 4.8, 2 and 1 air changes an hour from a 233 cfm smoke CADR. Coway's 200M page does not repeat a CADR, and neither model is in the AHAM Verifide directory, so treat 361 sq ft as Coway's claim for a room where it can clean the air thoroughly.

In practice that means a main bedroom, a nursery or a living room of up to about 18 by 20 ft. For open plan spaces, look at the Airmega 400.

Why skipping the ionizer can matter

Ionizers charge particles so they clump or stick to surfaces, and their makers say they add to filtration. The EPA's guidance on air cleaners notes that some ionizing devices can produce ozone and other byproducts, and California limits electronic air cleaners to 0.050 ppm of ozone. Many people simply prefer a purifier that only filters, especially in a nursery or for someone with asthma. The 200M is exactly that, and AHAM's CADR testing on other brands shows that a fan and a good HEPA filter do the measurable work on their own. More on this in our air purifier ozone guide.

Filters and running cost

The 200M takes the same Coway filter set as the Mighty: two deodorization filters rated for 6 months each and one HEPA filter rated for a year, $59.79 from Coway's store. That is one of the lowest yearly filter costs for a purifier of this size. The pre-filter is washable; vacuum it when the filter light asks.

Three-year cost at Coway's list prices. Electricity assumes 12 hours a day at the AP-1512HH's rated 77 W (Coway does not print a separate figure for the 200M on its page) and 17.2 cents per kWh, EIA's 2025 US residential average. Our arithmetic, a worst case.

Who should buy the Coway Airmega 200M

  • Buy it for a bedroom, nursery or living room up to about 360 sq ft if you want no ionizer and cheap yearly filters.
  • Buy it over the Mighty if the two are close in price; you lose nothing you need.
  • Skip it if you want an AHAM-certified CADR; the Levoit Core 400S-P and Vital 200S-P are listed.
  • Skip it if you want app control; the 200M has none. See the best smart air purifiers.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the Coway 200M and the AP-1512HH?

The 200M has the same filters and body but no ionizer: its filtration is pre-filter, deodorization and HEPA, while the AP-1512HH adds a bipolar device. Both use the same $59.79 yearly filter set.

What size room does the Coway Airmega 200M cover?

Coway says it maintains clean air in rooms up to 361 sq ft, and cleans 874 sq ft in 30 minutes or 1,748 sq ft in 60 minutes. Those figures match the ones Coway gives the AP-1512HH.

Does the Coway Airmega 200M produce ozone?

Its filtration is mechanical: a pre-filter, a carbon deodorization filter and a HEPA filter, with no ionizer listed. Filter-only purifiers are not a source of ozone the way ionizers and ozone generators can be.

Is the Coway 200M AHAM certified?

No Coway model was in AHAM's Verifide directory when we searched on November 3, 2026, and Coway's 200M page does not list a CADR.

How often do you change the Coway 200M filters?

Coway rates the deodorization filter for 6 months and the HEPA filter for a year, and sells both in a $59.79 set that covers a year.

Is the Coway 200M good for a nursery?

Its size suits most nurseries, its filtration is filter-only, and Auto and Eco modes keep the fan low when the air is clean. Turn the display light off at night, and keep it out of reach of a crawling child.
