The Awair Omni is a commercial air quality monitor. Awair launched it in 2018 for businesses, and it measures VOCs, PM2.5, CO2, temperature and humidity, and later light and noise, with a touch LED display, wall or stand mounting, a battery backup and a dashboard for managing hundreds or thousands of units across a building. A RESET-accredited specification sheet lists a laser particle sensor with ±15 µg/m³ or ±15% accuracy and Commercial Grade B status under the RESET Air standard.
For a home, it is the wrong tool. You would pay for fleet management and building-certification features you do not need, and it is sold through Awair rather than Amazon. For a home office or living room, the Awair Element, Airthings View Plus or Qingping Air Monitor Lite make more sense.
What the Omni is for
Buildings pursuing healthy-building certifications, such as RESET, need monitors that meet defined performance grades and report continuously to a central system. The Omni was designed for that: many units across floors and rooms, data in a dashboard, and accreditation a building owner can cite. Its battery backup prevents data gaps during power interruptions.
Measurements
| Measurement | Notes |
|---|---|
| PM2.5 | Laser sensor, 0 to 1,000 µg/m³, ±15 µg/m³ or ±15% |
| CO2 | For ventilation monitoring in occupied rooms |
| VOCs | Relative indicator, as with all consumer and commercial metal-oxide sensors |
| Temperature and humidity | Comfort and mold risk |
| Light and noise | Workspace comfort metrics |
Using the Omni in an office
CO2 is the most useful reading in a meeting room: it rises with occupants and shows when ventilation is not keeping up. The CDC's NIOSH guidance suggests aiming for five or more air changes an hour of clean air in occupied spaces, and a CO2 trend helps show whether a room gets there. PM2.5 readings help confirm that HVAC filters and any portable purifiers are working. Our guide to office air purifiers covers the purifier side.
Support history
Awair's status page records a January 2024 incident in which an Omni firmware update did not fully install on some devices, marked resolved in April 2024. Connected monitors depend on the maker's cloud service; for a building, check support terms and data export options before committing.
