The Qingping Air Monitor Lite is the best value air quality monitor we found for particles and CO2. South Coast AQMD's AQ-SPEC program, which tests consumer sensors side by side with reference instruments, reports a PM2.5 R-squared of 0.85 to 0.93 in the field and 0.99 in the lab for the Lite, among the better results in its summary for a consumer monitor. It costs a fraction of the Airthings View Plus or IQAir AirVisual Pro.

Its limits are clear: no VOC sensor, no radon, and a small battery that lasts hours rather than months, so it belongs on a shelf near an outlet. Qingping's listing also does not name the type of CO2 sensor, so if NDIR is a must, check Qingping's specification sheet or choose the Aranet4.

What independent testing shows

AQ-SPEC runs each sensor outdoors next to regulatory-grade instruments for weeks and in a controlled chamber, then reports how closely it tracks them. An R-squared of 1.0 means a perfect match in pattern. The AQ-SPEC summary lists:

AQ-SPEC PM2.5 R² (field and lab), read November 2026.
MonitorFieldLab
Qingping Air Monitor Lite0.85 to 0.930.99
Qingping Air Monitor0.86 to 0.900.95 to 0.98
Atmotube Pro0.881.00
PurpleAir PA-II-FLEX0.78 to 0.880.99
IQAir AirVisual Pro0.63 to 0.810.99

R-squared measures how well readings rise and fall with the reference, not whether the absolute numbers match; AQ-SPEC's full reports also give accuracy and bias. For a home user who wants to see when particles spike and whether a purifier brings them down, a high R-squared is what matters most.

CO2

The Lite shows CO2 alongside particles, refreshed every second according to Qingping. Qingping's specifications page lists a CO2 range of 400 to 9,999 ppm but does not state the sensor type. Qingping does say NDIR for a separate model, its CO2 and Temp and RH Monitor, which uses a Sensirion NDIR sensor; do not assume the Lite uses the same part. For ventilation decisions, its CO2 trend is still useful; see our guide to what CO2 levels mean.

Display, app and HomeKit

The OLED screen shows all five readings with a colored indicator, and a touch bar cycles through screens. Over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, the Qingping+ app shows history and lets you export data, and the Lite works with Apple HomeKit, so its readings appear in the Apple Home app and can drive automations such as switching on a purifier. It does not connect to 5 GHz networks.

Battery and placement

The built-in 2,000 mAh battery lasts up to seven hours, and Qingping recommends keeping it plugged in. Treat the battery as a way to carry it to another room, not as cable-free operation. Put it at breathing height in the room you use, away from the kitchen stove, windows and vents; our monitor placement guide explains why.

Who should buy the Qingping Air Monitor Lite

  • Buy it to watch PM2.5 and CO2 on a budget, for example to check a purifier or wildfire smoke indoors.
  • Buy it if you use Apple Home and want air readings in your automations.
  • Skip it if you need VOCs or radon; see the Airthings View Plus.
  • Skip it if you want it cable-free.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Qingping Air Monitor Lite accurate?

South Coast AQMD's AQ-SPEC reports a PM2.5 R-squared of 0.85 to 0.93 against reference instruments in the field and 0.99 in the lab, among the better consumer results in its summary.

What does the Qingping Air Monitor Lite measure?

PM2.5, PM10, CO2, temperature and humidity. It does not measure VOCs or radon.

Does the Qingping Air Monitor Lite work with Apple HomeKit?

Yes. Qingping lists HomeKit support and its own Qingping+ app, over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only.

How long does the Qingping Air Monitor Lite battery last?

Up to about seven hours on its 2,000 mAh battery, according to Qingping, which recommends keeping it plugged in.

Does the Qingping Air Monitor Lite have an NDIR CO2 sensor?

Qingping's specifications page lists a 400 to 9,999 ppm CO2 range but does not name the sensor type. If NDIR is essential, Qingping's separate CO2 and Temp and RH Monitor is the one it states uses an NDIR sensor.
